Going Green the Vintage Way

With all the pollution in the landfills today everyone is trying their best to reuse everything. I have found a wonderful way to reuse old fabrics of just about any kind. I have made some great bags that I use for my groceries. Some stores are now giving credit on your grocery bills if you bring in your own bags. These bags are great very strong (won't break with a jar of pickles or a bag of canned goods) saves those toes from getting smashed! I have made this one from an old flannel backed table cloth, I lined it with a white cotton fabric and used a bright orange to complement the orange in the fruits on the table cloth. It works great! Keeps my ice cream frozen on my 20 mile drive from the grocery store on those 100 degree California summer days (a very important thing for this ice cream fanatic!).
Recipe of the week:
For a quick, easy and healthy snack
1 cup any flavor yogert
1/4 cup whip cream
1/4 cup sliced strawberries
put yogert in bowl fold in whip cream and sprinkle with strawberries and YUM its done.
for another yummy variation you can add your favorite shredded coconut or granola or even a bit of candy sprickles.
Tip of the week:
use an old medicine bottle to put bent, broken and dull sewing needles and pins in for safe keeping untill bottle is full then throw away. Then you won't have them sticking through the garbage bag and endangering folks.
